Terms of use
stockmarket.loans (Stockmarket Loans, "we") is an independent website. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
What the site is
Stockmarket Loans publishes the margin rates US brokers print on their own rate pages, benchmark rates from the Federal Reserve and the New York Fed, the margin rules in Regulation T and FINRA Rule 4210, calculators for margin interest and margin calls, and guides on borrowing against securities.
We are not a broker-dealer, a bank, a lender or an investment adviser. We don't make or arrange loans, take applications, open accounts or handle securities, and no broker pays us.
Information, not advice
Everything here is general information. It is not investment, financial, tax or legal advice for your situation, and it is not a recommendation to borrow, to use any broker or lender, or to buy or sell any security. Reading the site or writing to us doesn't create an advisory or other professional relationship.
Estimates, not offers
The calculators give estimates from the numbers you enter and the dated published rates shown. They are not quotes, offers or credit decisions from anyone. A broker's own rate schedule and margin agreement are what count, and a broker can change its rates and margin requirements at any time, often without notice. Borrowing on margin can lose you more than you put in, and a broker can sell your securities to meet a margin call without asking you first.
Data sources and dates
Each broker's rates come from that broker's published margin rate page or fee schedule, linked on the broker's page with the date it prints and the date we checked it. Benchmarks come from the Federal Reserve and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; Interactive Brokers' benchmark rate is IBKR's own published figure. Rules come from Regulation T (12 CFR 220) and FINRA Rule 4210. Rates change without notice, so a figure can be out of date even though we check them. See About for how the figures are collected.
What you send us
When you use a form you confirm that what you send is accurate and yours to send, and you let us use it to reply to you, to send alerts you set and to correct the site. Please don't send account numbers, ID numbers or passwords. How we handle what you send is in our privacy policy.
Acceptable use
Don't use the site to break the law, to send spam or malware, to interfere with how it runs, or to scrape it at a rate that degrades it for others. The downloads and the data page are there so you don't need to scrape.
Our content and the data licence
The text, design and graphics belong to stockmarket.loans. You may link to any page and quote short passages with a link back. The tables and files on the data page are offered under the licence stated there. Broker and bank names are their owners' trademarks, used only to identify them.
Links to other sites
We link to brokers, lenders, regulators and data sources so you can check figures at the source. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them. A link isn't an endorsement, and no broker or lender pays us for a link or a listing. If that ever changes, the paid link will be labeled next to it.
No warranties
The site is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, stockmarket.loans is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses from using the site or relying on it, and our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to US$100. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Indemnity
If you misuse the site or break these terms and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you have a problem with the site, tell us first at hello@stockmarket.loans or through the contact form; most things can be fixed that way, and we'll try for 30 days before either side files anything.
If that doesn't resolve it, any dispute will be decided by individual binding arbitration under the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules, not in court, and not as a class or representative action. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing hello@stockmarket.loans (or sending a "Legal notice" through the contact form) within 30 days of first using the site, with your name and a line saying you opt out.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and changes apply from that date forward.
